ABOUT ME

Evan Berg is an engineer, mixer, producer, and musician with experience in rock, jazz, pop, and classical music production both in live performance and recording venues.

In the summer of 2016, Evan became a Sound Technician and Stagehand at B&B Productions, Inc. in his hometown of Woodstock, IL. His work for live music festivals, summer concert series, and corporate events providing audio mixing, staging, and lighting solutions has given him countless hours of experience to hone his mixing skills, and the confidence to work under the pressures of fast-paced environments and professionally interact with clients and musicians. This was his first step into professional work on the production side of music, which he has further supplemented during recording and mixing projects for jazz, rock and classical groups in Bloomington, IN, as well as further professional experience working as a Freelance Audio Engineer for the Chicago branch of Production Resource Group, Inc. He wouldn’t have gotten to this point without certain stepping stones in his life, so let’s start at the very beginning.

Evan has been a passionate music lover, and involved in the music industry starting at the young age of seven. It was at this time that he sat behind a drum set and began publicly performing with his Beatles tribute band, Beatolution, “A Genuine Tribute To The Beatles,” (under the name Stockwood at that time) across suburban Chicago and greater Midwest. This led to 12 years of professionally gigging across the greater Midwest in notable venues such as The Rosemont Theater, The House of Blues Chicago, Abbey Road On The River, The Genesee Theater, and Navy Pier’s Beer Garden, and share the stage with Dennis DeYoung (STYX), Aretha Franklin, Leon Russell, The Beach Boys, and Johnny B and The Leisure Suits. It was playing with this group and working with live sound engineers that he became interested in the production side of music, and started collecting audio recording equipment with his older brother to record in their home basement studio, Revo-Tone Studios.

Prior to the collegiate level, Evan was a band and choir member, which expanded his musical palette to include jazz, medieval madrigals, classical music, and traditional American music in addition to the classic rock and pop he already knew and loved.  While in high school, Evan was selected to the ILMEA District VII Honor Choir three years in a row, and the ILMEA All-State Choir junior and senior year, both based on live auditions. These experiences allowed him to become well-versed in each style of music, and be able to implement the proper audio techniques to fit the genre.

Evan is a 2019 graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with a BS in Audio Engineering and Sound Production, and minor in Arts Management from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Evan won the Gold Award in the Immersive Audio category at the Audio Engineering Society 147th Convention in NYC in October 2019. Evans studies in music and mixing production, and professional industry experiences have thoroughly prepared him to take on projects of any type, and achieve his goal to create meaningful experiences both for the collaborators and the listeners.
